The flag of Nicaragua was first adopted in 1908, but it was officially adopted in 1971. It is based of the flag of Central America, and inspired by the Argentine flag. It is a horizontal tri-band flag: blue on the top and bottom with a white band in the middle. The coat of arms in the the center of the white band.
