The flag of Malaysia comprises of 14 alternating red and white stripes with a blue canton contains a yellow crescent and 14-point star. The 14 stripes represent the equal status in the federation of the 13 member states and the federal government, while the 14-point star represents the unity between them. The blue canton represents the unity of the Malaysian people, while the yellow color of the crescent and star is the royal color of the Malay rulers. The crescent represents Islam, the official religion of the country.
