The flag of Belize is a modified version of an earlier flag of British Honduras; the name of Belize when it was a British colony. The flag has a dark blue background with red stripes along the top and bottom edges of the flag. The coat of arms is featured in the center with "Sub Umbra Floreo" written along the bottom, meaning "I flourish in the shade".
