This flag design was adopted by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in 1952. It contains 3 horizontal red stripes and 2 horizontal white stripes. At the hoist of the flag is a blue equilateral triangle containing a single white, 5-pointed star. Different shades of blue have been used all over the country.
