The state flag of Texas, also know as "the Lone Star flag" consists of 2 horizontal bans of white and red, and a blue vertical band of blue on the hoist of the flag. Centered in the blue band is a lone white, 5-point star. The flag was adopted in 1839. The flag is highly popular among Texans and is treated with a great degree of reverence and esteem within Texas.
