The flag of Denmark has a white Scandinavian cross on a red background. The cross extends to the edges of the flag, similar to the flags of Finland and Sweden. It is the oldest state flag in the world that is still in use. Legend states that the flag was adopted in 1219, but there are many theories about the flag's origin.
