Details

The California state flag was first flown in 1846. It is also known as "the Bear Flag". It was officially adopted as the state flag in 1911. It contains a brown bear walking on a patch of green grass towards the hoist side. The bottom of the flag has a red stripe along it, and a red star is in the upper-left corner of the flag.
