Costumes
Have firemen hats
and
firemen badges available for
each child so they can “be” firemen for
the day!
Games and Activities
Nothing beats visiting the local fire
department. Call ahead. They are usually
very willing to take visiting children
on a tour.
The children are often able to slide
down the fireman’s pole, witness the
pressure from the water hose, or climb
aboard the fire truck. Find out what
your local fire department has to offer!
Party Eats
Before the field trip, let the
children help make Rice Krispie
Marshmallow Treats. (the recipe is on
the box of Rice Krispies). Use the
fire truck cake pan to shape the
treats into a fire truck.
Fix one pan for a snack for the
children and another pan to take to the
firemen. This will help the children to
feel (and show) gratitude for the
firemen in your community!
Decorations
Have the table pre-set with fire
engine plates set on a bright
apple
red tablecover. Tie a bunch
of
balloons Use any bright, fun
colors like: pale blue, periwinkle,
mandarin orange, pearl ruby red, pearl
vanilla cream, or citrine yellow.
to a balloon weight.
Give each child a prize of two at
their place setting. Zurchers has a
bunch of great choices including
fire
engine whistles,
puzzles, or
sippy cups.
For a finishing touch to the decorations, put the
cake in the center with
fire
engine fun candles on top. A fun
atmosphere goes a long way towards a
awesome party!
More Fun
If you can get your hands on a couple
of firefighter outfits, have a Fire
Alarm Relay.
Divide into 2 teams. Line up each
team 20 feet from firefighter clothes
(jacket, pants, and helmet) stacked next
to a cone . Shout “fire” at which point
one fire fighter from each team runs to
the clothes and puts them on.
They then run back to their team
where they take the clothes off and the
next team member puts them on and runs
to the cone and back. The relay
continues until the last person is
finished. Whichever team finishes first,
wins!
Playing Stop, Drop, and Roll is great
fun for kids and a good reminder of what
to do in case of fire. . .
Turn on lively music. When you stop
the music the kids immediately stop,
drop to the floor, lay down, and roll
(to put out pretend flames). The kids
will love seeing if they can do this
faster and faster each time!
Party Favors
The
fire engine fun craft kit
is a great “winding down” activity for
kids 4 and up. After they have assembled
their fire engines, they can proudly
take them home as a reminder of a
fabulous party!
