Send out your invitations letting your friends know "they've been recruited!"
Party Decor
When they arrive at "boot camp" have the place decked out with lots and lots of camouflage. Give each new recruit their own dog tag and Army Helmet and then let them camo face paint each other!
Games and Entertainment
Next, get out your stop watch and time how long it takes each recruit to go through a challenging obstacle course.
Make tunnels with cardboard boxes, keeping the height of the boxes low enough that the recruits have to pull themselves through on their stomachs.
Use tires or hoola hoops for them to run through (like in football drills). Have them swing on a rope over a pile of leaves. Test their coordination on a balance beam made out of 2x4's.
When they finish the course, recruits give you a "high five" at which point you stop the watch and record their time. Kids love this and will want to run the course again and again to see if they can beat their previous time.
Have a MIA field ready where the recruits can rescue army men that are "missing in action".
Hide a bunch of army men in the grass them blindfold each recruit and have them army crawl through the grass to find as many soldiers as they can. Let them exchange the army men for prizes from the prize basket.
Party Eats
For a snack before cake and ice cream, let the new recruits try out MRE's (meals ready to eat). Have them eat them in the "field", drinking water from camo plastic cup.
Before the party, use a paper punch to put 2 holes in the top of the cups. Tie a string through the holes so the recruits can wear the cups around their necks. Set out a big thermos of water and the recruits can fill up whenever they are thirsty!
Party Favors
Send your recruits home with plenty of party favors and an award ribbon for a job well done! They will go home happy but worn out! |
